If history repeats itself like the last two years they should be more reasonable in February?

I think so. I’m going to try to pair the one I just bought up for my new 210g when the cheap ones start being offered.

Wondering, has anyone ever paired a yellow belly regal with an Indo-pacific regal?

I have a yellow and a blue chest livingtogether in my 320 in the past. They were young but I am sure will pair up as they mature.

Good to hear, I think that would be super cool to have both types.

Can be done for sure. Get a adult and then a juvenile of the other and they should pair up no problem. They may fight a little but that should subside

Regal angel eating Bryposis?

Just curious if any of you regal angel keepers notice your regal angel eating bryopsis? I had a bad case of bryopsis in my tank for years that I've almost given up. They're not everywhere but they keep coming back no matter how I tried to remove them.

A few months back I added a regal angel in my tank, at that time I removed the excess bryopsis as usual and never paid attention to it. Fast forward to today, I don't think I could see any obvious patch of bryopsis. Now I had hair algae mixed with the bryopsis and have no idea if the regal targeted the bryopsis or ate them thinking they are hair algae.

A warning for those of you who intended to add a regal as control, I had a bad mishap with my Achilles tang wasted away after consuming large quantity of bryopsis. It happened when I went on a 5 days trip and the feeder stopped working. The Achilles must have consumed them because of hunger and he was having trouble digesting. It took many days for it to pass the algae out of his system and it never picked up weight even I was feeding it nutritious food. My 10 year old Achilles ended wasting away since that incident.

So far it doesn't seem to do the regal any harm and at the beginning I would see the regal passing traces of bryopsis regularly. Today I don't believe I have enough bryopsis in my tank to cause any harm. I am hoping to see if anyone else could have similar experience.

Thanks.

I need some advice on Qting a Regal. My typical method of QT is TTM. I use 20g longs for ttm. I also have CP but i always have ammonia issues when treating with CP. My concern is that I have read that Regals stop eating when they are stressed from moving tanks. Will TTM mean the Regal wont eat for more than 14 days due to the constant tank movement? Or will hunger kick in and eventually they will eat? The one I'm getting is currently eating frozen mysis. Approximately 4 inches. Should I qt alone or with some chromis? I can always use more chromis.

I’d try to hold off on the TTM until you can get it eating pellets. Mine eat pellets well. That wouldn’t foul the water as bad as frozen. Once it’s eating well I doubt it will stop during TTM. Make sure you also treat it for flukes.

I have 4 in QT.
They were all together in a 200g with 2 goldflake angels and a golden puffer.
The goldflakes showed them all how to eat. I fed live oysters in the shell that I shucked. After they were in there for about 10 days eating the oysters I removed the lg(6”) and a 4” and put them in a 40g breeder for Ttm. I am now feeding pellets and part of an oyster during the process. Once they are done then the other two will go into ttm

Sweet tank. I just ordered a second one to try to pair up in my 210g. Seeing your tank makes me mad that I didn’t go bigger.

I had a pair in my 200gallons before this. How are you going to acclimate the one fish to the existing regal.
IME, the existing one will "check" the new one.

My existing one is only about 2 1/2 inches. The new one is 4”. With the way my rock structure is, I can put a divider in the tank if it comes to that but I’m hoping it won’t. I had a pair in my old tank in the past but they were unfortunately wiped out by a velvet outbreak that I still have no idea where it came from

It will be going into an established QT for about a month so I can hopefully get it eating aggressively before it has to handle the stress of the display.
This one is coming from a new source for me. Reef Beauties. Saw an ad on FB. They took a pic of the actual fish I would be getting and have a 5 day guarantee. Seems like a good deal. Hopefully handles shipping ok and it arrives looking as good as it did in the pic. Only $189 shipped. Being sold as a Red Sea one so I thought that was pretty cheap.

Honestly, you'll have a hard time telling the difference between a Red Sea, Indian Ocean, Summatra, or Yellow Belly after 6 months in the tank. As long as it's yellow belly regal.
My trio was sold as Indian Ocean, Red Sea, and Yellow Belly. At first there's some slight color difference. Now, if I don't look at the pattern and remember which one is which, I wouldn't be able to tell.
That's a great price.

Yea. I’m not convinced there is any difference even when they first arrive other than just natural variation between individual specimens.

I previously had a Yellow Belly Regal ( probably Maldives) for 6 years and I'm thinking of getting another one. I am considering a juvenile this time.

Is everybody having success with their juveniles or do most try a smaller adult or subadult?

Smaller adult when I got him. He has been with me for four years or so
