Exclamation (Nevermind) Please help, ro waste water way up...

This is for a drinking water system. I have a typical 5 stage RO system set up as follows:

5 micron sediment filter> Aquatec 6800 pump> (Another) 5 micron sediment filter> Carbon block> Carbon block> 50 God Dow membrane> Polishing Carbon filter> 3.2 holding tank set at 7 PSI.

All the filters other than the membrane (2 years old) was replaced last weekend. It takes roughly an hour and 15 minutes to fill completely.

I did several tests to tune in the psw switch to kick the pump on just slightly before the ASOV starts (Before, the ASOV opened before the pump and the pump would not kick on unless I further drained the system).

The Pump is showing 80 PSI at the ASOV before the membrane.

And finally the waste water test and the problem I need help with.

I let the system fill to capacity and then with a pyrex measuring cup measured the amount of water till the system was completely depleted. I got 11.5 quarts.

As the system filled I was patient enough to collect the waste water and then measure it with the same pyrex measuring cup. I got 42 quarts! That like over 10 to1!

What could possibly cause this? My Flow restrictor is the 420 one.

I then timed how long it took to get 1 cup of waste water, it took 26 seconds.

To get me by till I find out what's wrong and put a shut off valve on the waste water line and turned towards "Close" just to the point it took 55 seconds to get one cup of water.

what do you do with the waste water? i was curious about setting up a system like this and using the water to water the gardens.

I don't collect it, it just goes down the drain. I only collected it for testing purposes. I would love to recycle the waste water though. I'm still pondering this myself.

Use the waste water for laundry or watering plants.

I actually am just getting into organic gardening but only use clean water. As far as the washer goes I have a front loader otherwise I would. I thought about a small tank in the bathroom with a float valve to run to the toilet.

When you have a pressure tank installed on an RO system, as it fills, it provides more and more back pressure on the membrane. When the backpressure reaches 66% of the feedwater pressure, the ASOV will shut off.

The higher the back pressure,
the lower the net driving pressure (pressure the RO membrane uses to function),
the slower the pure water production
the lower the rejection rate (the dirtier the RO water)
the higher the waste to purified water ratio.
