Ordered 400 lbs. of rock from Marco Rocks. Marc was really helpful and offered some size suggestions for this size of tank:

Hi Alan, that looks a fantastic project. Great planning and organization!! I'm looking forward to see more progress. I would like to ask you, where did you get your Aragonite Sand? From BRS?

Following along. Must of been an awesome feeling when you found out you won the raffle.

Are you concerned at all about not having a center brace on your stand?

I actually added center braces when I started to do the fill. I wasn't too concerned about it, but I needed the framing for the drywall/outlets anyway.

Here is the start of the framing for the fish room. Removed all my shelving from the back corner, so it could moved outside the fish room. I picked up an exterior door, which has all the weatherproofing that I wanted built in.

Added two 1.5" drain lines that run back to the fish room:

Sealed all the sill boards of the fish room and cleaned up the floor in preparation for the epoxy shield.

Installed vapor barrier and OSB wall panels

Sealing the concrete walls. I also sealed the ceiling framing against the concrete, so no moisture leaks would get through there:

First coat of paint:

Picked up a pair of 44g brute trashcans, a 60g storage tank, and a couple 30g tanks. The 30g is currently being used to establish a separate pod population.

Skimmer is online

I still need to plan out the fish room equipment layout, so the wiring/tanks/lighting is temporary. I've considered doing a some shelving above the stock tanks and I will be adding a utility sink to the RODI corner.

I also purchased one of these 200-250g water storage tanks. My plan is to put it in the garage, then have a line running down into my fish room w/ a spigot

My first skimmate

What's the status of this tank now? I assume it's all up and running, yes? Got a sneak preview from the "Rubbermaids as sumps thread" but need more. :0)

Unhappy

Sorry about the lack of updates.
I was planning on getting all the corals mounted and then posting pics after that. Everything was going really well and I had almost all of the fish I wanted, plus a decent set of hardy corals to fill the tank. Then, disaster struck about 2 weeks ago and my tank now sits completely dried out.

Here are a few pics from about 2 weeks ago when everything was going great. Fish that I had:
orange shoulder tang
yellow-belly blue hippo tang
vlamingi tang
naso tang
chocolate tang
powder brown tang
kole tang
desjardini sailfin tang
foxface
pair of bluejaw triggers
blue-spot jawfish
3 purple firefish
dartfish
anthias
blue fairy wrasse
yellow hogfish
misc. clownfish

2 weeks ago, everything was doing so awesome. I got about 1/3 of the fish in mid-December. They went through a couple weeks QT, then added to tank. No symptoms at all during QT. Then added to tank, where some fish were bullied as they established territory. I did some tricks with lights off, extra feedings, moved a few rocks, etc. After a few days, all fish seemed to have settled and didn't really have any problems. Everything was good for a few more weeks with no symptoms of disease.

Here are a few pics of fish a few weeks ago:

Around the 1st of Feb, I lost my blue-spot jawfish and chocolate tang. Around the same time, I noticed white spots starting to show on some of the fish. Since I had not mounted corals yet, I decided to split corals into a separate system and run hypo in the main to get rid of the ich. It took 3-4 days to bring down to 1.009 and more spots were showing up. I lost a couple more fish, but was hopeful once the salinity was low enough that it would start relieving the fish from ich and begin the healing process. Over the next few days, I just kept losing fish and the hyposalinity does not seem to have done anything. I've researched diseases and couldn't match it with anything I found. I'm unsure what the disease is and unsure how to treat the remaining fish. The only tangs I have left are my larger orange shoulder and blue hippo. I still have the yellow watchman+shrimp goby pair, a melanurus, a blue fairy wrasse, 1 purple firefish, 1 dartfish. All the other fish have died

Needless to say, it's been completely devastating. It's heartbreaking having to pull out dead fish almost every day for the past week. I can't make sense of the disease. No new additions had been made since around Christmas. All the fish were doing great with no symptoms for over a month. That was even after the fish went through their stressful tank introduction. Then, the symptoms showed up and the disease has been extremely lethal.

I moved the remaining fish to a hospital tank and kept them in hyposalinity. Since I had to remove all the rock to get the fish out, I decided to just pull the sand out and drain/dry it. Since it was run in hypo, I figured a lot of the biofiltration was lost and might as well just bleach the rock/sand

As it stands now

If anyone can help ID diseases, I'd like to treat the fish that are left.

* Fish showed no symptoms for 1+ month, then started getting spots/blotches/fin damage and dying over another week
* Hyposalinity did not seem to have any effect
* 6-7" blue hippo has shown almost no problems. light discoloration spots on face (still alive)
* 6" orange shoulder has not shown spots, but does have multiple blotches/rashes on the sides (still alive)
* blue fairy wrasse, melanurus, yellow hogfish, yellow watchman+shrimp - Have not shown any problems (still alive)
* None of the 3 purple firefish showed any signs, but 2 have died (1 in main, 1 in hospital)
* foxface got COMPLETELY covered with white spots
* Naso had fin damage and cloudy eyes. was one of the last ones to die
* Sailfin tang had spots, lost color and was really patchy looking
* bluespot jawfish and chocolate tang died first (didn't see any symptoms)
* Fish seem to be breathing ok (no rapid breathing or toxic water/high ammonia like symptoms)
* male trigger had mucas-like stringy stuff on top of head, fin damage, a few spots

Here are pics:
