I love that clam, I am not into the maxima's that everyone else wants. This coloration is more my style.

2" maxima

3" crocea

3 1.5" maxima's

2 3.5" crocea's sorry its blurry

9" squamosa, 6.5" gigas, and 4" derasa. Compare the Bangaii cardinal to the giga's on the right.

Ok now compare the clam to the conch 10 months ago. Approx 5" growth in 10 months. And who says T5 lighting isn't good for clams? Yes it is the same clam!

1 3.5" squamosa and 1 5" squamosa

Sold as a gold maxima but it has many different colors gold, brown, black, white, and a blue-ish center. Only a baby at 2". Also have a top down of the croceas 3" and 4". Nice clams everyone! Skins awesome clams! Wish I was a bit closer I'd love to see your tank.

I think all maxima clams that have any gold in them are flat out concidered gold. Gold maxima is a pretty wide coloration.

Thanks for the compliment. Looking at your rockwork and sps's I would have to say yours is more interesting though. But I have got ya beat with my 24 clams.

I am actually looking to get rid of a few and some other stuff. If you do want to make a daytrip and see the clams and tank give me a pm. You could hit the shark reef and ocean reef aquatic's on the way it would be a worth while trip

PLEASE DONT USE GREAT STUFF (THE YELLOW STUFF) IN YOUR TANK........USE POND FOAM (THE BLACK STUFF).. I BEG YOU!

Great stuff====$5 a can
24-48 hour cure
Epoxy to cover it====little as $5 for small projects or up to $100+ for larger projects
and another 24-48 hour cure
I hope you covered it well cuz if you didnt it will start to break down in a few months
sand is another added cost to cover up the yellow.

Pond foams====$9-$15 a can
24-48 hour cure
DONE! You can cover it with sand if you want to (YOU DONT HAVE TO) though but thats added cost again

Current Tank Info: 75 gal under way

A couple additional shots of my T. deresa a couple pages back.

May of '01 freshly rescued from the LFS, just a tick over 2.5"

Sorry for throwing in the FTS, but to give an idea of current size, I pretty much had to. 72"x34"x25" tank.

And a pic of the mantle coloration

I feel the same way. For some reason, all the stores carry are croceas, and I don't like them like I do T. maximas.

This is a great thread. You gave me credit for a picture that isn't mine. I posted that pic from a Taiwanese (I think) forum. I gave credit in the thread where it was originally posted. I wish I could take props for that tank
