IM Nuvo Concept Abyss Peninsula 20G

Started a 20g reef tank on Thursday. Three days into the cycle. 20lbs of CaribSea live sand and 18lbs of Fiji live rock. Just being patient from here! Always looking for advice, suggestions and to learn everything i can about this hobby!

Other than having to tilt my head, the pics and tank look great. Thanks for the update!

Any lessons learned with the shelf/abyss tank that you didn't expect? Easy enough to clean the glass? How about with the substrate on the top shelf?

Is this made with acrylic? If so, are you getting any bowing on the far end?

Hey guys! Sorry for the late response! I'm not sure why the photos came out like that. I will upload a few updated pictures and yes, I am having some bowing issues on the sides. I contacted IM and they were not helpful at all. I just hope the acrylic sides hold up!!

IM abyss bowing

2 years up and running and my tank is now at 3/8 of an inch bowing out of the sides. I have had no leaks but the bowing seems to get worse as time goes on. Not very happy that IM wont help or at least discount me off a new abyss glass version.

Wow- you've built a beautiful tank!

I would hope IM would take care of you!

Other than the bowing- care to share other lessons learned? What light are you using?

That really is too bad. The abyss looks stunning and is something I would consider if my latest foray into the hobby is a success. Your tank looks to be in beautiful shape aside from the bow. Kudos.

I love your tonga bridge between the sections.

You said it's acrylic.. They are being marketed (currently) as glass as you mentioned, I'm guessing that should set my heart to rest about bowing....

Have you added anything? Needed to upgrade return? Skimmer? Your tank is fantastic! I see one powerhead (MP10?) in your photos, is that enough to keep detritus from building up on the lower level?
