Thanks Ksed. Tank looks good. I'm getting a little algae on the rocks but not much. I don't have any snails or hermits to mow it down. The tangs and angel pick at it, but don't really go after it much. My filter sock picks up a lot of dirt, I end up changing it every third or fourth day. Maybe that's why I don't get much skimmate?

I would look at the Super Marin 250. This one is easier to restrict back than what the Deluxe or Alpha's seem to be. While it's still going to be "big" for the 150, I think you will be able to get it to work just fine. Once it's on the 300, it will absolutely rock!

Connect the other end of the silicone tube to the small, red part on your volute.

Does anyone know the difference between the BK Supermarin 300 and the BK Delux 300 internal skimmers? I plan on ordering one of the two. Which one would you get and why. Thanks!

The 300 Deluxe is a standard cylinder, with cone neck and bubble plate. This unit has a single Red Dragon pump based off of the Askoll 2000 motorblock.

The Super Marin line is the latest and greatest from Royal-Exclusiv, using a 300mm body just like the Deluxe, but also incorporating a a cone coming off of the bubble plate, feeding into the cone neck. The SM300 utilizes two pumps, a Red Dragon based off of the Askoll 2000 motorblock, and a slave Red Dragon based off of an Askoll 1500 motorblock.

Personally, I would go with the Super Marin, as that is the most efficiently designed skimmer on the market in my opinion, including the full cones.

Just adding that both have diff that may sway you to them, SM brute force.
Deluxe smaller footprint, and tuning. You get more options with the deluxe like the telescoping wedgepipe that the SM does not have, and controll of exhaust which the SM does not have. Correct me if i am wrong jeremy but the newer deluxe has somewhat of a cone as well does it not?

Not that I know of. Only upgrade is to buy a new skimmer

Other than the silencer, nothing changed on the Mini 160 when they went to Gen 2, only the 180 and 200 had changes.

General question. I have a BK mini 200. The unti does NOT have a sticker for water level. How high should I keep the level inside the unit in order to produce good foam?

I would recommend running the transition from water to foam right at the seam where the cup sits on the body. You might find for your system that you will want to go maybe .5" higher, or .5" higher, but should be right within that specific area.

I bought a BK 300 deluxe and love it. I am having a bit of a problem though with getting fresh air in my fish/frag room. I am in a townhouse and putting in a vent would require a truckload of questions and extra bs with the association.
I was thinking of extending the air intake on the skimmer to bring in some fresh air. Is there a rule of thumb to the distance you can go without effecting the
skimmers performance? Would 20 ft of air line be a problem?

20' of tubing will not be a problem as long as you do not restrict it at all. I would recommend going with 1/2" pvc if possible, or even 1/2" PEX pipe and use that. You can then restrict down to the 3/8" tube at the skimmer.

I have ~300G reef system with medium to heavy bio load. Currently, I am using ATI BM250. It works alright, but I am looking other skimmer to improve. I know BK is the best and most expensive skimmer on the market. which BK will be the best fit for my setup?
and how much is the replacement pump if it fail after warranty expired?

OK, here is my dilemma. I currently have a Alpha 250 which I love. I also have the opportunity to purchase a Bubble King Deluxe 300 External. Which I've always wanted an external skimmer. Do you think I should make the switch to the BK? My total volume of water is 200 gallons for now. My system is 80 percent sps and the rest lps.

@gigiba, Are you looking for internal or external? Let us know and we can make some recommendations for you.

@ricwilli, I would say stick with the Alpha 250 in my opinion, but I prefer internal skimmer over external, just my prefernce. A 300 series skimmer from BK is going to be a lot of skimmer for your total water volume.

The Deluxe 250 wouldn't be a bad option either, and you have a little more room for adjustment with it due to the telescoping wedge pipe. Other than that, you're not gaining much over the Super Marin line, and will actually get more performance out of the SM.
