Wow! This is seriously my favorite tank on this entire website! Sorry if this sounds stupid, but basically you just feed a bunch of really finely ground seafood? Would you think that blending up various things like you mention such as shrimp and oysters would work for spmeone that is trying to do this insanely cheap? Because I absolutely love this and want to start doing it myself but I would like to do it as cheap as possible. Once again, absolutelystunning tank!!

I think he mentioned earlier that the corals don't react very much to daytime feeding and that it's more of a frenzy at night.

This tank is inspiring - nice work. Your Zoa's are clearly reacting well to the additional nutrients provided.

Awesome tank. Aren't the polys of the zoas closed at night? Will they open for the food?

Thank you! Please try it out and post your results, I would love to see how it works on other collections.

Thanks Connor,
Yes the seafood is cheap but all the little extras add up fast. I think in all for the last batch it cost me a little over $80.00 but that will last on a 350g system for over 3 months.

Never had any luck with it, big problem is the fish eat off the polyps closing them and the coral seems to be more active while less photosynthesis is taking place. I'm not a Marine Biologist yet so if anyone could chime in it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, pretty much hit the nail on the head.

No they open up for my moon lights, I don't have any success when its pitch dark as the polyps stay closed.

New colony I got from the LFS, for a whopping $40.00 Canadian .
Anyone have an ID?

Your welcome, happy to share the info!

Will post a few new colonies tomorrow when I get my Camera back but in the mean time I would like to give a shout out to Gary and Sarah at www.reefthreads.com. I have never heard of the blog/ podcast before but was very pleased after listening to it! They were nice enough to feature the zoa tank but the whole podcast was packed with some good info.

Thank you! I don't think you guys have access to it because it's the no name superstore stuff up here. I have a feeling any multi green supplement will work but I will be sticking to this stuff.

Exact branded? Maybe checking local natural supplement stores for a US "equivalent"
Would you mind getting a clear picture of the label for ingredients purposes?
I can go to the local store and search for something similar

stunning tank! I really liked some of the shots on the Canadian site. Your electric bill has got to be out of this world! I would like some more info on the cheato canal. Next spring gather as much pollen as you can on pieces of flat glass/acrylic and add that to your mix
good luck

If you don't mind me asking, did you custom make the tank for the Cheato "River"? Is it acrylic or glass?

An to anyone asking about the brand of the Nutritional Supplement, he has pictures of it posted on the link he provided in post #18 so I doubt he is trying to hide it from you

You guys did see the dozen other things he feeds too right? I doubt the green supplement is the sole reason he has such a beautiful tank. More likely good combo of lighting, chemistry, and husbandry.
