This thread is what RC is all about.
Wow thanks for the compliment Jeff, healthier fast growing coral means more aquaculture and less collection in the ocean so just trying to do my part.

I hope others can replicate my results, before you believe anything I post try it for yourself and see if you like the effect on your zoas. Can't believe everything you read on the internet afterall ehh?

If you are going to try this regiment start off slow, it's a large amount of nutrients added to the water and if you don't have the proper amount of sinks to absorb it you could run into a nitrate spike. Also keep in mind I do this in a dedicated zoa tank which lacks larger fish to disturb the zoas during the process.

Thank you, they are a wicked species to watch. Favorite has to be my monster mash palys, they have an amazing amount of dexterity in there skirt and are constantly plucking little things out of the water, much more interesting then colored sticks :P.

Does anyone get large amounts of natural sunlight hitting there zoa tanks during the day?

This was my point. Everybody reads threads on RC and other message boards about how things are done. Your thread had pictures, recipes and personel experience. I can start a thread and tell the community that keeping your reef at 98 degrees will grow corals like never before. Without proof my information is useless.
It's obvious that you have had tremendous success with your regime. Those of us that have not had as much success can try out your methods to see if it improves our reefs. I admire your objectivity and reasoning in telling people to start slow if trying your method. Some will tell us that we are all doing it wrong and they are doing it right. Keep up the good work .

BTW, I prefer soft corals to colored sticks as well. They are more interesting in my opinion. I lean towards ricordea but have a lot of palys and zoas as well and the reason I was drawn to this thread. Your method relates to my needs as well. Here is a mini thread about my latest tank. You will see how it relates to your tank and what I hope to achieve. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh....php?t=1919342

Do you have anything to test Iodine with? What size tank is it? You might have a little bit to much flow.

If you are focusing on your SPS and looking for a good combo of color and growth I wouldn't dose what I'm feeding. I have also heard that LED's and zoas don't get along that well some times but again no first hand experience.

It's always a possibility your OD iodine, again a test kit will let you know.

Just a point and shoot Panasonic DMC-TZ1, I have an underwater setting that can change the white balance and the underwater case does wonders.

Just a few quick shots of the main tank, decided to remove a fair amount of SPS to make space for Chalices and other lps (Sometimes SPS and zoas do not get along that well unfortunately).

Oh and one more thing. Have you ever had any of your zoanthids morph into totally new color schemes?

My main tank was having problems with fish bugging the coral so I set up a dedicated zoa tank to stop the problem. Theres 2 wrasses, 1 copperband and a tiny fox face (To control my macro algae problem) that inhabit the zoa tank, minimal clean up crew. Even if they do close they are still pulling in there mucous mat so I'm sure they are getting some nutrients.

All corals will morph due to environmental changes (Water quality, flow, lighting, food, ect..) zoas are no different. I have certainly seen some color ups, my lights tend to make things really pop.
