Plumbing question

I have 2 90gallon frag tanks I'm plumbing into one sump.My pump is a Varios 8.There are 2 3/4 returns for each tank and 2 1 inch drains for each tank.Im foing to plumb the drains together with a t using 1 1/2 inch pvc.My returns I am wondering if I should use 1inch or 1 1/4 pvc cause there are 4 of them.Does any one have a idea thank you

So you will be combining FOUR 1" PVC drains into one 1 1/2 tee, is that correct?

No I'll be butting 2 together and the other 2 emergency drains together

Do you mean the 4 drains? A 1" drain at full siphon will handle 960gph. Tying two together to a 1.5* will handle about 2100gph

I have 4 1 inch drains.Im putting 2 together to a 1 1/2 pvc to sump.and the other 2 emergence drains together to 1 1/2 to sump.So I think it will be fine.But commig off my varios 8 to the returns o dont know if i can go 1 1/4 to my 3/4 returns or would 1 inch be better

1" will give you 2200gph+ on the return. So if you want 1000gph or less for each tank, then I'd go with 1". Seems like plenty for a 90g tank.

Yes I was looking at about 700 gph turn over to sump so 1 inch will work.I just wasn't sure if there was a advantage going 1 1/4

Feeding multiple tanks with one pump is fine. In general, it's a bad idea to combine drains. Are some of the drains siphons, as in a Herbie or Bean setup? If that's the case, you can't combine drains.

I was going to do a herbie drain.So I was going to connect 2 of the drains together and the other 2 emergency drains together

You can't do that. You won't be able to adjust them, and it will be dangerous.
