Porcupine Puffer vs. Humu Humu Trigger

I have a 55 gallon FOWLR tank. Currently i have a coral beauty angel, juvenille naso tang and a snowflake eel. I will upgrade to a 125 gallon. My local fish store has a big sale and I can't decide between a small porcupine puffer or a humu humu trigger. Any advice would be good!

I personally wouldn't get either...I would save my money and upgrade to a bigger tank first, that'll open up more options as far as fish. The 55 seems like a big long tank but its so narrow you really are limited to what you can keep in them.

I agree with sucker_fish. Better to have a bigger tank than be forced to upgrade because the fish get's too big. From what i've read, you might want to trade in that naso tang, those things get pretty big and a 120g isnt that big imo.

No I already have a plan once I move to my new house to get a 125. This is in about a year. Which fish would you recommend for me to get first because there is a huge sale.

Just remember that life happens and things might not go as planned. But if you have to have a fish i'd probably pick the trigger since it's avg max size is 12 inches so it'll have enough space in the tank. The puffer's max size is 18 inches so in a 125g it's face will be against the glass when its trying to turn around in the tank

what if i want to add fish after the trigger, would that be ok?

its obvious you want an answer other than your tank is too small. the humahuma grows slow, so get a small one and you will be alright for a couple years. Just make sure you actually upgrade, if you dont the humahuma will end up getting really aggresive, and probably kill/torture your other fish. Also the naso tang will get to big for the 125, upgrade to a tank that is at least 180 gallons if not bigger
