Just added a coral beauty, couple purple dottybacks, starry blenny. I would like to add a schooling type fish. Any recommendations out there.

I think perhaps you mean shoaling fish. Our aquariums are too small to keep schools together. How about a nice group of 3-5 heniochus bannerfish?

I do mean who shoaling fish, last time I used at word I was incorrectly corrected and asked what I meant by a few others. So I went with the more common although incorrect terminology. I will check out the bannerfish, I like anthias but I just dont feed enough to have luck with them. I do not want an auto feeder because I like the clean look of rimless. Although someone at my LFS suggested hanging one on my sump, by my return pump.

Dave, I just looked at that fish as I was not familiar with them. Amazing fish, cannot say that I have ever seen one in person.

Sorry for tuning in late but your tank is amazing. I'm about to add a shoal of tangs to my system on the near future. Maybe some pyramid butterfly fish?

Thanks for stopping by Wayne, your tank looks amazing too man!
Dave that's a great idea, I could hide it up there. I was thinking on my sumo above the return pump to get it back to the tank. But I could probably out something like that small ehiem in my canopy. Like you, I prefer to feed the good stuff by hand, but this would allow me to feed when I might miss the light period on my tank. Corey |

Okay, woke up this morning to my iwaki 55RLT making an obnoxious humming noise. I know they usually make a little noise, but this is NOT the normal noise it makes. Any ideas?

Skimmer is slowly getting dialed in...or headed in right direction now. Starting to tinker with the calcium reactor, getting it online as well.

Question, I only run my MH about 7 hours a day, however I'd like to add some light to my tank for my extended viewing pleasure only. I am looking for a few small LED strip lights I can insert in my canopy. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks, Corey |

I have seen good results with the Reefbrights for colouring up corals that had bleached out.

Yeah a guy local to me has the reefbrites on his tank and it looks amazing. I am going to try these currents outs and see how they look on my tank then make a decision from there.

So I think my iwaki is not putting out the correct flow to feed my skimmer. It's an iwaki 55RLT that says it pushes 1080gph with about 30 feet of head pressure I have about 2 feet of head pressure......and I do t think I'm getting near that gph, I am looking for some way to bend the plumbing into a bi pucker and time how long it takes to fill 5 gallon bucket and doing the math that way. Here's my question, the pump works, just maybe not to full potential right now. How does one service an iwaki, I've taken it apart and it's clean and lubed but is it possible the bushings or bearings could be going bad in it. If so, can they be repaired, where, and is it worth it usually

Good question, there is supprisingly little out there on the subject. Who did you get the pump from? Maybe they could help you.

have you tried going to www.iwakiamerica.com and looking for additional info there as well as sending them an email? I had an iwaki pump a few years ago and they were extremely helpful when I had a question about the pump I bought.

Took it completely apart and found some photos online, about 10pages into google that got me thinking.....I took a small wire brush and inserted into the propeller slots, and out came a ton of sand and some plastic in just about everyone. So about half of them weren't getting any water or not near enough water to be useful. The guy I got it from must have had sand or something in his sump, and it clogged them up. I never thought to even look there as it was not noticeable from a glance. Now the thing is rocking, I don't have it full blast yet in my skimmer and it's making thick white bubbly milk looking foam.
