Dead coral?
Hi, I've had a coral for about 10 days now and it doesn't look good....is it Dead or dying? Can I revive it? When I first had it, it had little green shoots that came out every now and again, but now Nothing. By the way I haven't had a reef tank for about 10 years so new getting back into it. Thanks in anticipation. Tried to attach a photo but it's too large.

doesnt look dead..just ****ed off.....leave it be for awhile and it should be fine..also what are your parameters...lighting flow...etc...

I'm using a v2 luminiare for lighting and have a wave maker and return pump for flow. Water parameters are ok although my salt is a little down at 1.027?

Hi, water flow is directed above the coral. Ph is 8.3, nh4 is 10.6, ammonia is 0.001, nitrite is 0.5. All readings taken 2 days ago. Some with seneye some with salifert tests. Cheers.

I'm in the boat with everyone else thus far, it looks/sounds like GSP (green star polyps). If that is the case, it will be quite hard to kill this coral - definitely keep it around. Your parameters don't look to off base, so I would just hang tight for the most part.

It sounds like your tank isn't fully cycled. You have ammonia and nitrite present. Those levels should both be zero. Ammonia is very toxic.
Also, with stony corals, your alkalinity, calcium and magnesium levels are very important, especially alkalinity. I don't see those numbers listed.

I'd agree. Seems like your tank is fully cycled yet and some parameters are off. Definitely GSP.
