Hairy algae...what to do?

Hello guys,

I have this hairy white transparent algae growing from a couple of spots on my live rock.
Any idea of what it is and how to deal with it?

On a new tank its nothing to worry about, keep an eye on it and make sure water parameters stay in check.

Might use a brush and get it off and clean up excess with a fine net.

Thats not live rock. Also. Just wait it out. That system looks brand new. It will work itself out with good husbandry, including using RODI and not adding anything to that thing until a few months in.

You're correct. I meant to say dry rock. It should be getting some live though

It most certainly is live rock now...

Is it being colonized by bacteria.. Highly likely to one degree or another.. Thus its live rock..

You should take a picture every week at the same angle it will be cool to watch it go from white to purple with all the mini blooms along the way.
