My first maxima clam
I just got a maxima clam at rap this past weekend, around 5". I placed it at the bottom of my tank on the sand bed, 100 gallon, 24" deep, 4 80w t5. It opened but not like some of the pixs I have seen on this forum. After reading the sticky on this forum I moved the clam higher in the tank. Yesterday the clam seem to have open more but it keeps jumping off it place! Is this cuz it's not happy there. Or is it just not secure yet. Should I look for a better place or just keep placing it back in the same place? Last question, Can I place it where some of the side is touching rock or will this prevent it from opening properly?

Clammania right?
I got one too and it took her 3 days to find a spot. I moved her up but hated it thinking it wasn't enough light on the sand bed but after finding the right spot she put down her feet within 5 mins. I tried on rocks and frag plugs in the end she chose to put her foot down on the glass. I say "her" because my wife decided to name her Connie. |

My light system is LED/T5. The LEDs are 4x nanobox pucks with 4x rapidled quad core violets. The T5's are 2x 24W with ATI Coral+ and wave point superblue. Total light is ~$250W. Here is a pic of her before she decided to put her foot down. |

mine fully opened up within a few hours.. but then again, none of the clams at Clammania looked completely open at RAP. Probably from all the moving around.
this is what mine looked like the 2nd day in my tank

stop moving it. give it a chance to be undisturbed for a while.
