Santa was good to my tank this year

Along with some stuff for my cat (including a long overdue rug for the litter box) I got a pretty good haul of reef junk. Some things I had asked for, a few I wasn't expecting. Among the haul was a TLF Phosban reactor (silly me forgot to ask for the media), a second Lunar Link, and a Ranco single stage temp controller.
My dad has also offered to help me build and wire up a power station for the tank that I can mount all of my strips and whatnot into so that the cats will have a harder time romping on the switches and turning things off...plus with the rat's nest of wires cluttered together next to my tank I'm sure it's a fire hazard.

I'm particularly impressed with the Phosban reactor...I'd never seen one close up before, and the build quality is absolutely amazing. That, and it's a really simple design, doesn't seem like there's much that could possibly go wrong.

I'll get some pictures up tomorrow after I've had a chance to run to the hardware store and pick up a few things that I need to get everything installed...I'm also going to be checking out a better way to elevate my skimmer, the eggcrate is starting to crack and the skimmer is no longer sitting quite level, and I think that may have something to do with why it's never really started skimming all that well.

I have a T in my return as well...but I use it for water changes. I just connect a ball valve to it with some tubing that drains into a nearby sink. Learned this from another reefer on these forums... Really sped up my WCs.

So...I've been pretty much completely neglecting my tank as of late. Algae everywhere, the sand bed is disgusting, I haven't even cleaned out the skimmer in like a month...

But everything is doing great! The hydno is fleshing out more than it was, the montis have noticeable growth, even the frogspawn has started to color up again. Apparently regular maintenance is overrated!
I'll get some pics up in the next day or so.

*disclaimer: I'm kidding, don't be me. Take care of your tank.*

Here's the most recent cause for my negligence, a backhoe driving his front bucket into my car while I was driving to practice one morning:

On the bright side, I replaced my 1988 Buick LeSabre with a 2001 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS Coupe.

I think it's a definite upgrade! The AWD is real nice for wisconsin winters.

i like that deep blue.... hopefully your lighting will be intense enough for it to keep that color without it browning out!

joking aside.... that is a pretty serious upgrade

my first car was an '87 dodge omni with a messed up interior that smelled like gasoline that cost $500. Next car - 93 ford escort - wasnt much better!

Yeah, I'm really happy I managed to find one near me in decent shape. I love it so far, especially the 5 speed manual.

Getting it moving from a stop was a little hairy for the first couple of days, but I'm getting the hang of it day by day and thoroughly enjoying it.

Ugh...I have not been taking care of my tank. Checked the SG today and it was at 1.021, looks like I'll be topping off with saltwater for a while.

I seriously need to get this tank back into decent shape in the next month and a half before I have to move it and stress everything out.
