Tunze 6040- controller has gone bad

I've had my Turbelle Nanostream 6040 for over 3 years now, but it recently stopped working properly. The topmost knob on the controller - the Main Controller - is stuck on its highest setting, and does not respond to turning the knob at all. I can control "pulse" and "pulse power", but Main Power is always at 100%.

Is there anything I can do to fix this? I'm considering buying a new controller, but I see that there is a wiring harness on the cable that connects the motor to the controller. I'd hate to replace the controller if it's really a problem with the signal connecting the motor to the controller.

Secondly - rather than replacing the broken controller, I am considering buying a second Nanostream 6040 and a 7092.00 Controller Pump Cable, and using my old/broken 6040 as the "slave." Will that work if the old controller is not adjustable?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
