I disasseble it many times , made sure everything is in order , it feels
That when i turn it on it lacks suction the motor and impleller just runs and hums a bit, but when i blow into the hose then it will start blowing bubbles and runs very quit and actually already start skimming. it looks like italways needed to be primed in order for it to start the suction and produce bubbles.

Well, that certainly shouldn't be the case as it should start immediately, sound like somethings not right with it one way or another. If the impeller runs freely it should pull in air no problem at all of course. I suspect a misaligned impeller or the impeller itself is defective.

But then after i blow on the hose it produce bubbles and very quit . It seems that it needs to be primed with air every time you need to re start it.

Anyone could help me check and compare to their 160 unit if the clear pipe should be that too close on the inner tube of the venturi as shown in the picture?
Just trying to figure out whats wrong with my unit , but it works when i blow air on the intake tube. Thanks guys.

Can't you take it back to your LFS if indeed you bought it from there? If not can you contact Nyos or their distributors direct with your problem?

Would that even impact on the air being drawn into the pump?

Did the skimmer start off with a little noise before it broke in? Mine is a lot louder than I had counted on.

Nyos 160

i bought Nyos 160 for reefer 350 and i am really trying hard to love it but if i shut it down for clean up or power goes out skimmer will not start to ski m on its own. i have to almost pick it out of the water to gasp for air and than is back in business. But what happens when i am not at home ? who will do this? 500$ i shouldn't have to do this every time its shut down for one reason or another. It is sitting in sump at 8 1/4 inches of water . I will say this it does skim better in 9 1/2 inches of water... however been running it for 2-3 weeks skims good but the no start of skim after power lose is a no go for me so most likely it will go back since i do have that option

You should get a hold of EcoTech Marine they import the skimmer.
