Question Out of the Box

Admittedly, I haven't thought this through, but can someone talk me through the answer to the following questions?

What would happen if an just enough of an acid were added to RO/DI water to drop its pH to ~6.0 and it was circulated through calcium reactor media?

Would it dissolve the media? Would the resulting solution be capable of maintaining the calcium & alkalinity needs of an average reef tank? Would the resulting solution also serve as a carbon source?
