Impeller magnet swollen and busted
Swollen and busted pump stopped.
Is pump fried or just need new impeller?

Could have fried the motor block, but I doubt it. I would try a new impeller first(probably cheaper then replacing the pump).
What model pump?

I would very carefully inspect the impeller section of the motor block as swollen impellers can sometimes crack that section of the block if the tolerances are precise between the impeller and the block. If the impeller swelled enough to stop the pump, then it may have also cracked the block housing in that area, and it can be difficult to see without looking carefully.
If you find no damage, then a new impeller may be the simple solution.

More than likely you just need a new impeller..

I had it happen on a pump I let sit and used as occasional back up. The twin that ran all the time died after a decade.
Took 6 years of not using it to swell. |
