Very nice write up!!! Clear something up for me, you are saying your buckets of sand weighed about 350# each? 1200/3.5?

I pulled 3.5 buckets of crushed coral and other junk out of the sand. I had 12 some odd buckets and a 55g full of sand.

The next thing on the DIY list is the water change setup. It will change ~7 gallons per day, every day. =)

How hard was it to hide the supports for your PVC rock racks? I put some in my 135g and didn't do a good enough job of hiding them. Those that see it say it looks good but they drive me nuts.

Yes, It runs across 10 main support beams. A frame was built in the crawl space to support those beams and a floor jack was placed in each corner of that frame. I will make sure to include it in one of my updates.

I was worried about seeing the actual pvc structures. I think they key to it is having enough and large enough pieces of rock. Placing them is the challenge but if you spend enough time finding the right rock, magic is bound to happen. With small rocks it would probably be close to impossible to cover all of the pvc.

Excellent work

I cant imagine what my wife would say if a seam gave way and 150 gallons of water came out.

Awesome job on your build. Congratulations

Great build log, I like how you braced it, I bet its really easy to get in there and clean it without those pesky cross braces.
Keep the pictures coming.

Thanks for the comments and views.

steve the plumb, Overall the cost was very low for this size of tank. It has proven a challenge but it is possible to put something like this together on a budget and elbow grease.

HarrsCars, probably the same thing I did .......... &*@# ZAAAAAP No time for talking!, fuse box!

reefkoi, the braces are one of my favorite parts. They make a nice ledge and you can swim up to your arm pit without moving the chair too often to get around obstacles.

I'm not quite ready to post the next equipment build so I will start on the livestock. These were taken under T5 Blue+ and VHO Super Actinics, halides are off. Sometimes my camera has a hard time with blues in the background but the actual item in focus is usually right on.

My clowns have it good......

This BTA has more of an orange color then the pic shows.

A female Percula clown in her BTA doing a dance.

One of 8 Red BTAs catching some final rays on the way into the rockwork.

Almost lost these! This yumma(?) is going strong and making a strong comeback

For whatever reason these were my "cannot keep" coral. In this tank they do great =]

I'm rather fond of zoanthids and probably have around 80 color morphs. Eventually I will get them all photographed. I lost between 20 and 30 morphs.

A nice hammer coral.

My BRAINS! Well one of them

My fish are well fed. The tangs go through 2 sheets of nori per day. A varied diet is important for healthy fish. Frozen mysis shrimp, krill, veggie, and various seafood combinations are offered as frozen foods. Pellets, and a bit of flake top off the menu on occasion. Some of the food is soaked in Selcon prior to feeding to supplement extra fats and vitamins. I am also doing a few things to ensure that plenty of natural food is available. More on that later. Back to the pics.

Oh, BTW..... they like the camera!

Jaws roaming for his next target.

This juvi Vlamingi Tang just happens to be the previously mentioned target(most likely). This fish forgot tangs are supposed to be horizontally challenged.

Hey, is that a camera,... look at ME! Can I have some nori?

I have ran several fatten up the Blonde Naso campaigns. He came very skinny, pretty much just bones.

A fire fish and neon goby hanging out, probably wondering why the tangs are swimming circles.

More updates to come soon.

How's the tank doing Mark? Any pics of your new frags?

Also - how did you clamp on the glass when you were gluing the tank back together? I saw how you did the eurobraces...wondering about the tank itself.

Hey Mark,

Can you post some pictures of sections of the tank?

I would love to see how you positioned your coral.
