Please identify

I noticed some white strands between two neighboring corals (see image please). Do you know what it is?
Thanks

Hard to tell. Could be, the corals are too close, and are now fighting each other with sweeper tentacles. Try moving them apart.

Yep, those two corals are fighting. Those are mesenterial filaments - basically stinging and digestive extensions designed to "clear the way."

One of those corals is going to lose and have local die off, and in the worst case scenario, both corals can be weakened and then succumb to a bacterial infection. So, separate those two corals!

Thanks for posting such a clear picture of the war being fought in your tank. I would give them at least 6" of space, and preferably put the attacker down-current to make it a little tougher for it to attack.

aggression

I separated them promptly, but the one on the right suffered about a cm width of tissue death.
Thanks

If it's far enough away from its, umm, friend, it will recover and grow out over the damaged area.

Good info Anemone. I think my buddy's tank is having the same issue about his corals. We'll take a closer look.
