Been out of town past few days so have not had a chance to work any on the basement. Glad to say that frag tank/fish were good after a power outage Luckily seems our power did not go out very long from the storms that blew through Friday! I will post progress when I make it but has been very busy and I'll post when I can.

Sorry but I've been really busy with work and doing a bit of traveling. I have not touched basement lately and have had some delays on the steel. Just paid for steel this morning and it should be done by eow next week. Should have time to work on basement tomorrow and Sunday so will post a good update this weekend!

...Finally some progress
After a couple weeks of being busy and just not having a lot of time/motivation to work on the tank had some time today to work on the basement for a while in preparation for the tank move. I picked up all the supplies, electrical re-routed, studs cut out, framed in for dry wall, and started adding the drywall. Shooting to have it mudded and drywalled this week so we can start painting the basement soon
Framed in and wired: Dry wall partially up:

I'm trying to finish this up sooner rather than later. This week hope to get the drywall and mudding finished if my schedule allows it. I've got Friday afternoon off to pick up steel so hope it's not delayed...

Steel Has Arrived
Another week of little updates....I got some more work done on the basement and picked up the steel for the stand this afternoon! My brother is going to come over in next couple of weeks with welding tools to get it done and hopefully can get powdercoating setup afterwards. Once it's in place I won't be able to not stand getting the rockwork laid out and working through the plumbing Patience...It'll be here before I know it but want to make sure I make the right decisions!
Steel tube reinforcement and gusset plates. Current stand design: Final stand with platform I have to build. Red pieces are the steel pictured above:

This week decided to start to stock up on the cleaner crew for the frag tank and 90 gallon fuge. I already had 28 red scarlet hermits, 22 trochus snails, and 3 brittle stars that I picked up from Premium Aquatics.
I went ahead and put a large order into ReefCleaners and they were great, fast, and gave me more than I paid for. I got 50 blue leg hermits, 50 nassarius vibex, 355 dwarf ceriths, and 130 florida ceriths distributed between the two tanks and they definitely seem to have finished off what I needed for the crew. In DT I'll likely use trochus snails and hermits with quite a few Florida ceriths too. For aesthetic reasons I want the most effective cleaners that do it quickly on the DT and the hermits are there to help but I like the humor they provide too. Anyways, headed in that direction and it will be here soon enough!

Finally...I got second coat of mud on drywall yesterday and going to sand and skim coat tonight. After that my next task is getting the stand ready and in place. Awaiting a time my brother is available to weld...So many delays lately but it'll happen.

Wrapped up the drywall mudding/sanding pretty much tonight. Next weekend I've got my brother booked to come over and weld the stand so counting down until the day we can move the big tank to the basement. Going to hold off on trimming out the new staircase and painting until we move the tank down as I don't want to have to repaint due to nicks and scratches we make moving the tank down. Drywall is easy to repair but repairing scratched acrylic is a different story!
Drywalled, capped, and ceiling fixed. Another angle. Another. Guarder of the frag tank. Can't quite work on the frag tank without them attacking me ever since they started hosting to the torch. Phosphates are down and my algae has dissipated. I am dosing AquaVitro Fuel from SeaChem twice a week and feeding the fish/corals more and colors seem to be starting to bounce back well. Full tank shot. I'll get coral shots when the color is more pronounced in a few more weeks. I'm not satisfied currently.... ***Shots taking with my Galaxy SIII, maybe I'll learn how to take pics with the real camera

Looks great! Love the crown detail on the half column next to the stairs too.

Fish is something I don't want to talk about. I had a copper incident on the fish QT tank so I currently just have 1 lyretail anthia and the two black clowns. Group buy to Aquaria happening for next week so I'll have some new additions.
