Question nano tank fish ?

I have a 56g display with 2 sump buckets connecting to a 20 gallon refugium .
I'm planning on using the dosing pump for the overflow to add water to my 14 g nanocube at 3 gph so if the small tank gets a large turnover like that and the overflow works ,
what could I put in that tank?(fish & invertabrates)
and will this setup work?

clown fish, cleaner shrimp, shrimp/goby pair, firefish, probably a good amount I missed, but those seem to be the most popular , GL

Clownfish
Damselfish
Firefish
Gobies/Shrimp
Dottybacks
Dwarf angelfish
Wrasse
Blennies

And many more. Can you give us some sort of guideline?

I don't think dottybacks or dwarf angelfish would do well in a 14g.

Ok so I also have an blue devil damsel fish (for cycling) in my display. the display will be a octopus tank , I'm not sure if I should keep it in the display , will the damsel fish attack other fish and inverts if it was in the 14 g
the octopus will appaerently not kill the damsel fish

I suggest you take out the damsel and give it back to your LFS. Then get a pinch of fish food and drop it in your tank to start the cycle. A blue devil damsel is one of the meanest damsels so I suggest you don't put it in the 14g.
