Well... many here wouldn't recommend canister filters at all.. And if they do it would just be a place to maybe put some carbon/rock rubble/bio-media,etc...
IMO there are much better ways to spend $200 than a canister like that in a marine system..

What are your plans for the tank? Corals/fish only?
What size?
Are you looking to reduce the amount of rock in the tank? How much rock are you planning on?
Why do you think a canister is what you need?
What other equipment are you planning on?
and more really..

So from the start . I've had cold water fish since day dot . This year I finished my koi pond and now after losing my last fancy blackmoor in the loving room . We want to try marine fish just dipping our toes in to start off with using a
100lrt tank that we have spare
the filter I'll be getting off a friend for 20 quid
fish only
Will be setting up a RO system

If we get in to it as we have with koi then by the middle to the end of next year I would be looking at building a 4x3x2 tank with sump lighting skimmers dosers.

With the koi I have basic knowledge of water chemistry that should be easily adaptable ie tests top up I'll be running a fish less cycle to start the bio off
I'll be taking things very slowly and small to start
