Newb how do you?

Hey all,

So I’m new to sw been in freshwater for awhile. I was waiting for a good deal on equipment. Finally go it so setting everything up. But I’m curious, how in the world, do you get stupid salt off everything?? Like what’s the safest way especially the skimmer and such??

Tia

Do you mean salt creep or actual salt?

If it is salt a soak in plain water will do. If its calcium then soak in vinegar. If its coraline algae then you are in for some work.

Vinegar/Water in whatever mix you want 10:1 or whatever is a great cleaning solution for just about anything.. Around the house too..

I'm going to have to assume that maybe you meant more than just salt..
Glass tanks,etc... will frequently get etched which is nearly impossible to remove..
Calcium,etc... buildups can get on equipment/surfaces too..

Letting it soak in just vinegar for 10 minutes max may help get off the tougher stuff..

Thank you all, sorry didn’t reply sooner, I’m assuming salt and maybe calcium? The guy I got it from didn’t really clean, anything, other than getting spider webs off.
