Niger Triggerfish
Anyone have a Niger Triggerfish in a reef tank? I know they will eat all the shrimp, but what about the corals?

Won't touch corals but may rearrange rocks and corals that aren't secure

Won't touch corals. May go after snails or crabs, depending on the fish. Shrimp are fair game, usually if the shrimp is in the tank before the Trigger, they have a good shot of living.

Yes, but he is in my 300 gallon.
He came as part of my first used 90 gallon setup and I can tell you that in that tank he was a holy terror. He is a much calmer fish in the 300. In the 90, he terrorized snails and crabs, ate peppermint shrimp, harassed cleaner shrimp. In the 300, he spends most of his day crossing back and forth in the tank; no shrimp deaths and no picking up snails. They are fun fish, great swim pattern!, but they need space. |

I'd advise against it if you're thinking about putting one in the 72g tank in your sig.

corals they do not touch, but they might go crazy and eat all other fish in your tank overnight ... and anything else that touches the water afterwards.
Im dealing with one right now. |
