You know, that'd be awesome. The HC is more pricey so if I can't get the process to work right I'll just stick with the disposable....

Maybe try and hook up next week if you are free? PM/EM me...

Back from the dead!

I’m regenerating a 1/2 gallon of Kolar Labs Bayoxide E33HC GFO at a time. I’m using a 4.5x10” refillable cartridge and a 10” Big Blue housing.

How can you tell when it’s rinsed and do you think I could use tap to do the rinse? From what I’m reading I need to run about 25 gallons through it.

My tap is filtered through 2.5cuft of catalytic carbon and is softened. I’m assuming I shouldn’t but worth an ask..

If your tapster is phosphate-free, it might be okay for rinsing, although I'd be cautious. When the pH of the rinse water is back towards neutral, that's probably good enough.

Thanks, rinsing my first batch now with a bigger bucket of solution, my last attempt with 5gal of 1mol solution didn’t get me all the way there. Need 9 gals of solution per instructions in this thread.

Okay, I'm glad the process seems to be working for you.

After rinsing with 45gals of rodi, ph is still off the charts and po4 is still reading .018.

It was suggested in the comments of the advanced aquarist article to rinse with 1mol nacl solution to make rinsing easier. I only have 10gal of rodi left so I filled my 10gal brute with 9 cups salt and rodi.

Hoping this helps. I need to sit down and read through this whole thread...

I would stop rinsing for a moment here. A rinse with a bit of vinegar might be appropriate. Do you have a TDS meter? The pH might be high due to the lack of any buffering and thus limited accuracy to the pH meter.
