Just got a RSR 170

And there seems to be a faint scratch on the bottom panel. I really don't care, but I just want to make sure it's not a crack. I really don't think it is, but I wanted to know if there was any way to tell for sure?

Thanks.

Also, I noticed my overflow box on the back wall has two random holes drilled into it that are plugged. It's on the back wall of glass. Is that normal? I can't see any pictures to confirm if that's normal.

Thanks again.

Mine does not have any holes on the back wall. Can you take pictures and post?

You can see the plugs in the first pic, you can see the back of the tank in the second pic. Both holes look the same in the back like the second pic.

Wow, that looks interesting. Mine is definitely not like that. Did you buy it new?

Those "holes" are the mounting holes for the lights and light stand that Red Sea sells with it. Apparently that tank was probably a deluxe version with the previous owner if used. If new, then Red Sea sent you a tank that should have been a deluxe version without the lights.

If you detect any scratch report it to Red Sea, they will cover it as warranty claim, my RSM500 had a little scratch too and they shipped the piece in one week. You are putting a lot of money in it so get right. RS will ask you for the tank number and a video/pic of the defect.

I called marine depot and they confirmed that the holes are for mounting lights.

As far as the scratch goes, it's so faint i wouldn't feel right making a warranty claim. It's on the bottom panel so after sand is in its not noticeable. I just want to make sure it's structure or strength isn't compromised, that's all I'm worried about.
