any quick fixes millions od little bubbles in my tank

I think the root of my problems are comming from my baclpack 2 but have
no idea how to fix. Then again it may not be from that entirly. I have
millions of air bubbles travleing threw my tank and it's giving the
tank a cloudy look. As filtration I am running 2 tidepoolII 1 magnum
with micron filter on it. As for protein skimming I have a 2 backpackII
and 1 berlin red sea skimmer.
These bubbles are driving me crazy. SOMEBODY HELP ME!!??

shut off all your skimmers and see what happens. if bubbles stop, then turn each skimmer on one at a time waiting between each start up to see if anything happens. this should help you diagnose the problem.

my bakpak skimmer does that pretty much everytime i feed the tank. It usually goes away in about a hour or so, My vote would be to leave it on for a while and see if it takes care of itself.

i think i am going to get rid of the backpack and my berlin and get a new skimmer inslead of have 2. It's you screwed one way or the other. Looks bad with it on, bad for fish with it off.
ANy sugestions for a 180gallon. (bang for the buck) not looks to break the bank.

Isolate the problem to the source and then think about the solution.

give it couple days to break in. It's normal when it creates micro bubbles the first few days.

you shouldnt have to shut every thing of for a day or two. just the skimmers. and only for maybe an hour possibly much less. then turn each one on one at a time. unless of course its your return from the sump. in which case the micro bubbles will not cease after shutting off skimmers for an hour or less.

If you're feeding with brine shrimp try using a sieve placed in warm water then drop in a chunk of brine shrimp. This will obviously thaw the brine shrimp quickly. The point is you will have pure brine shrimp without all the junk. You would not believe all the nasty fluid that comes with your brine.

This may help with your problem and other problems.

Thw water level is is 6 inches. This is driving me crazy. This moring I pulled everyrhing from my sumps so I can work easier. The sumps are causing the bubbles. the returns are under water by3" so I knoe air isn't commming form there.

the overflowing tray causes the water to not run over the biowheel creating bubbles which get sucked into the pump and chopped up.

If any plumbing on the suction side of the return pump is loose it will give you this microbubble problem as well.

what size pump are you using?

i found that if i did not attach a 90 el facing down towards the bottom of the sump. the pump would draw air from the surface.

I don’t know how your plumbing to your pump is set up but a sponge pre-filter before your pump would definitely work too.

The problem is quite probably the pump sucking air bubbles (like douggiestyle said) try a 90 elbow. That is what protein skimmers use to keep air bubbles from escaping from their reaction chambers.

A sponge does just give you some mechanical filtration, helps with air and adds to your maintenance. Nothing wrong with using them, but I prefer to keep from it.
