Formalin MS

I ordered some Formalin MS in case I need to treat for brooklynella and received it yesterday. I wound of getting a 32 ounce bottle.

The directions say:

Use 2 drops per gallon of aquarium water every other day until control is achieved. 1 teaspoon treats 90 gallons, 1 oz. treats 500 gallons. Remove carbon during treatment. After treatment complete, perform a 25% water change and replace carbon filtration.

However, there is no dropper on this bottle.

Assuming I did my conversions right, I have:

1 ounce for 500 gallons or .002 ounce for 1 gallon
converting to ml I get 0.0591 ml per gallon or 3.25 ml for 55 gallons

or

1 tsp for 90 gallons or 0.01111 tsp for 1 gallon
converting to ml I get 0.0547 ml per gallon or 3.01 ml for 55 gallons

So if I do need to use this, is 3ml the right amount for 55 gallons? I would use a 2ml syringe that came with a salifert test kit.

Also, what is the recommended duration? the directions are vague on this.

thanks,

Mike

I've seen this brand, I think its from fish vet.I'd Google them and call their tech support. Any decent company has good tech support and (IMO) we don't use it often enough. BTW, I didn't re-do your calculations, but 16 drops= 1ml.
Edit: Here's their phone #, (937) 291-1070

Is it 37% formaldehyde? Make sure you use good aeration during any treatment.

I use formalin MS but not as a long term treatment. Instead, my newly acquired fishes go through 30-60 min baths before going to QT. The optimal dose that I discovered through trial and error is between 20-25 drops per one gallon of water. The water must be well airated and fishes should be observed during the bath.
Aside from less sensitive fishes I had a leopard wrasse, Yasha goby and a blenny go through the above described protocol without any issues.
