Have you considered a vent system?
Open sump in an enclosed room can lead to many issues down the road. |

As a matter of fact I did consider it. I guess I could at the very least put some vents for passive ventilation. From past experience I'm always working around the sump area so the door(s) will be open often. And on that note I hope it'll increase the humidity in the house since I have forced air. Thanks for the advice! I love receiving input!

UUUGHHHH! Plumbing turning out to be a pita. Every time I calculate a pipe through a wall there's a stud! Gotta remind myself that the whole process is enjoyment. It's the journey, not the destination....

Both tanks (there's another one above it in my bedroom closet) are 26g. The Freshwater tank sits above it and gravity feeds the one you see for salt water.

JP,
I would give the placement of the RO another thought. We all like things neat (well most do) & tucked away, but if changing cartridges has even the slightest difficulty move it now, under the tank so no ladder is involved. A fault waiting to happen with that sump under everything.

You brought up an overlooked point, Vinny. I just checked to location and ease of access to the rodi and it looks like it shouldn't be a problem. It's an arm's length away and a small step stool is all that's needed to change the filters. Thank god for the 2 way access! Thanks for the observation friend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

JP, if you ever dropped anything, (don't we all), I would move it.
Good chance it could break the sump. BUT-- up to you.

that closet is gonna need some sort of exhaust fan for humidity imo, my sump room was 10x10 and humidity was over 80% until i installed a bathroom exhaust fan in it.

I had 3 open topped tanks and 2 sumps in a 9'x17' enclosed converted fish room with a commercial inline fan and humidistat installed. While the room was sheet rocked, I thought the inline exhaust fan and the occasional dehumidifier would do the trick but 5 years later, anything metal started to rust prematurely and the dreaded mold started up on the concrete foundation walls that led up from the basement steps.
Just my experience. |

I've seen larger setups then mine in unfinished basements without the problems (seems like sheetrock is a problem) that I had but doesn't explain the mold on the foundation walls. I did notice that their HVAC piping also started to show initial starting of rust after time though.
