RBTA'S spawning?

Woke up today with cloudy water and the tank smelling like dead fish.I have a tank with 30 plus RBTA'S.All of my fish are accounted for and i see there are no anemones shredded on any powerheads.Could the RBTA'S spawn and caused the water be cloudy.Have not seen this happen before.

Yes, it could.

I had female clones spawn in my 65 gallon tank a few years ago.

Did your water smell like dead fish?

Truthfully, I don't remember. But, since it's a dump of a lot of organic matter into the tank that immediately begins to decompose, I wouldn't be surprised by the smell you describe.

I did a large volume water change (like 25%) and let the skimmer handle the rest. It was clear the next day.

This evening the water is pretty clear.I started running carbon this morning and doing a wet skim.If i have to i will do a water change.Wish i knew what it was that happen.First thought it was a nem got shredded up by a powerhead but don't see any pieces floating around.

Yup, RBTAs can spawn and will cloudy the tank just like in the pics above.

your tank has 30 nems? If there was a mass spawn event, the tank could definitely start to smell like death depending on the water volume.

large water change, wet skim, carbon will help.

i recently had a mass spawning as well, but i only have about a dozen, and they are in 300gallon display, so impact of the spawn was diluted. no smell.
