Here are a few shots of the ones I have. Just took these 5 minutes ago. They've stayed isolated to the two areas in the first couple pictures. In fact, I think they were on the same parts of those two rocks when I got them 18 months ago. They multiply over time, then seem to die off here and there depending on factors I'm not sure of. But they have never really moved beyond the parts where you see them here. They just increasingly fill those little gaps in the rock, and add to their own density. I added the last pic so you can see just how isolated they've stayed. I don't see them anywhere else in the tank.

https://imgur.com/a/7Ntgh

At first I was concerned about them, but now I don't even really see them when I look at the tank. They have nice little movement in good flow though, so they get to stay

I'm thinking of moving my green macro calurpa to the rock in the first pic, to keep it isolated (those who have/had it will understand why), which will probably end up smothering out some of these little guys, but that's how life on the reef flows.

Thanks for the photos. I've not noticed any of these else where in my tank so far, so hearing that you have not seen any spreading in 18 months is reassuring. Thanks again.

I hate to admit that I don't have any idea what that is, but it sure is pretty.

If I saw that in the wild I'd probably have collected it!

If by move, you mean move from one spot to another and not just move back and forth in the flow, then I'd say you have some kind of an anemone. There are some rock flower anemones that have intricate tentacles like that. And they do start life quite small. I have 2 adults that mated and now there are 5 very tiny baby anemones on the near by rocks.

Yeah, move from one spot to another. Likes to move a lot too. Doesn't seem to be bothering anything. Just wanted to ask for an ID in case it's harmful. Thanks!

That was my thinking, do they grow/move? How big would it grow? Does it require feeding?

They usually pop up in new tanks. It doesn't require feeding as it's already feeding on particulate matter in the tank, they're filter feeders. Sponges come and go, I've got a few squishy sponges on an arch in my live rock.

its an asterina star, you'll get a boat load of them. I find them sucking on corals sometimes so I vacuum the little buggers up when I water change

Snail ID ?

This just appeared on the glass of my coral holding/observation tank. The Zoas in there aren't looking so good after Irma. So this little thing may be seeking greener pastures. It's very small about 1/16th inch, But when you see one there must be more you can't see. I checked LL and none like this there.

This nice little Stomatella was in there too. Unfortunatley neither survived the capture and photo shoot.

Super jealous of your rock. That is some awesome-looking stuff.

Not 100% sure about anything except that the green plant is a strain of calurpa. Has a tendency to get out of hand quickly.

Help IDing this please?

This folk went for a walk last night around my new LR. I checked in the TBS website and it looks a lot like a Whelk, which is drills through some of the other critter's shells.

Am I right?...should I still leave it in my sump?...any benefit from it?

Thanks!

I'll answer my own question for future references. This seems to be a whelk, there is a great detailed explanation on how to tell a Whelk from a Nassarius in this link: http://melevsreef.com/whelk-versus-nassarius

Are these mysis?

Noticed these little guys moving around along the glass in my crushed coral. I think they were hitchhikers but I would like a positive I’d. They are small and difficult to photo. I was unable to upload the movie because of the format so i uploaded photo to my YouTube. https://youtu.be/P8Wrhli-DZI

Just want to make sure these little fast buggers are not a threat.

Chris
