Herlequin. Shrimp
Hi anyone have experience with the herlequin shrimp, i got it on friday n it started eating the asterina starfish. I acclimate it for about 1 to 1.5hrs, it still alive but i dont really see it move. It only moves several inches within its area, are they suppose to be wondering all over the tank or takes sometime for them to get use to the environment. Thanks...

If I am correct the asterina starfish is one of its staple meals. To many from my understanding that starfish is just a Nuisance to many if not most. Hope this helps Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Yeah thats the reason i got it, but my herlequin shrimp doesn't really move around much. Are they suppose to be very active searching for starfish to eat?

I've been keeping a pair for about 6 months. Mine are fairly active, but do have periods when they stay out of sight, sometimes for a week or 2 at a time. They completely wiped out my asternias.

Awesome, im hoping thats the plan, atleast this one can get rid of it by about 80 to 90% of the asterina in my 110g. do you have to buy star fish for them now that you dont have asterina in there anymore. These guys are really cool looking.

Mine doesn't really move around all that much. Occasionally it'll get hungry and go out on the hunt, but that's about the only time it's out and about.

Do you put all the chocolate chips stars in your tank at once? Keep them in the sump? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

No I keep them in my frag tank now. Over the winter no matter where I put them they just melted within a few days. I just got some last week which seem to be doing ok, except for the one I gave the shrimp!! I suspect shipping them during the winter may be an issue with them, we'll see how these do over time.
