Red Sea reefer didn’t clean writing off tank.

So there is writing on the back wall of my reefer 350 I just got, but the problem is it was on the outside of the glass, then they put that black back on. So no way to get it off. What do I do about that...

Red Sea tank...... Well at least you know it was actually inspected.

They have the cash, I would be asking for a new tank. That would absolutely drive me insane if I had to look at that every time I looked at the tank.

Yeah I’m pretty bummed, first new tank. And it’s not in an area a rock will hide it.

I would seriously just shoot red sea an email with a picture of the issue. Found this little tidbit on their website.

https://www.redseafish.com/contact-us/

Pretty sure they will make it right with you. They are a pretty reputable company.

Thank you, just sent them an email. Just got the tank all setup too, was about to add water but noticed it testing the lights.

Yeah it's always a bummer when your all excited for something, then a huge let down when something like that happens.

I'm pretty sure red sea will make it right with you. More then likely they will ship you a new tank only.

Thats so simple. Hair dryer. Peal back, remove with rubbing alcohol. Done. It's not the end of the world and i bet anything if you put sand and rock in there you'd never even notice.

Yes its as easy as that, but the point is, if the tank gets inspected after the initial inspection and after it was fixed, and before the back sticker is placed, that shouldn't happen. And I as a consumer of said product am giving away my hard earned dollars on a top of the line product, I would expect a top of the line product to be delivered. Not something with blemishes or magic marker on the glass behind a sticker that cannot easily be removed.

And I would be willing to wager 100$ that the writing is up high enough that sand and rock will not cover it up.

If I was shelling out the dough for a red sea tank, it better be pristine! They are not cheap!

One wrinkle or tear in the vinyl doing this and the tank is ruined. Shouldn’t have to risk that in a brand new tank.

That's an easy fix. Insisting on a new tank for something so completely trivial seems a little extreme. Don't ruin Red Sea's great customer service for everyone else.

Whether its an easy fix or not is a mute point. The point is you payed a premium price for a premium product and it was not delivered.

If red sea has such great CS, then this should be easily fixed by them.

I don't understand how anyone can say to fix this themselves. If you payed $1,600+ for a tank and it arrived with writing behind a vinyl sticker, that if removed could ruin the entire look of the tank, what would you do? And if anyone says they would heat it up and remove it themselves, your lying to yourself.

There’s zero way that is visibile when lit from the top. It’s literally black on black.

Take a picture of it normally lit.

Absolutely disagree w this. The writing shouldn’t be there. It was missed by the QC. If the OP tries to pull the back and it ruins, the look/value of the tank has taken a large hit. It shouldn’t be his issue. If the shipping of the new tank is too much (understandable), Red Sea should contract out the work to a local maintenance company or glass tint company (or whatever company) that can get the job done properly and w a guarantee.

seriously?? he shoudnt have to fix a thing. i wouldnt heat it up, peal back the vinyl and hope it isnt ruined. and IF he did do that now im sure the warranty is gone. it is a brand new tank, if the customer service is that good then they should fix it. what if you bought a brand new car with surface scratches in it? would you just try and fix it yourself or go back to the dealer and have them fix it for you

Hey guys, the OP already contacted Red Sea. Lets see if he/she comes back and posts what they had to say, or do to make this right.

It is completely visible with just the hydras on, that’s how I noticed it. Once I have my bright sand in and water to make the glass clear it’s going to stand out like no other. Hard to get a cell phone to take a picture under reed lighting. But here is one for you.

Doesn’t look noticeable to me at all. Probably why they missed it.

Are you going to scrape the back glass of this tank regularly?

Again this is a cell phone picture with reef lighting. In person it stands out big time.

But you’re right, it’s my fault for being the consumer, ordering a 2300$ tank and not being happy it has a eye sore on it. My bad I’m a terrible person.

I’ll update this thread when RS writes me back, thanks for the reply’s.

Please come back and update this. I will be curious to what RedSea has to say. If their CS is as good as everyone says, they will replace the tank.

The tank itself is actually the cheap part of the system.

They should definitely make it right - you should not have to deal with that on a new tank. Hope they take care of it.

Yeah seriously. It's Earth Day for Christ's sake and you want to send that tank to the landfill. I agree with Bent, I can hardly see it.

They're not going to send that tank all the way back to China.
