Thanks, but i'm not convinced they are fertile after every yolk fell apart at the 5-6 week point last year.

Last year I had recently dosed dimilin and maybe that was the issue. I guess I will know more in a month or so. Right now they are spread throughout 4 different tanks.

BTW Zoodiver - I'm looking for a bunch of porkfish or other grunts to fill my new lagoon. If you know a good source, wholesale or retail email or PM me. Thanks

Two more eggs yesterday. Total of 12. I put a window in one of the early eggs and found no embryo. Just a dimple in the yolk. I hope they are not all infertile, Will update if I see anything.

This is me with a little guy is one of the males in the display.

Your not the only one with that problem.

I hope you get at least 1 fertile. Were the speckled epaulette eggs fertile?

I doubt the eppie eggs are fertile. I have a female hallistromi dropping eggs with no male and my two male speckeleds are immature. One is 20 inches the other 16. The female is >32 inches

Thx. 11 eggs in total, I only checked one. I have them in 4 different tanks, all at different temps. It should be sometime near Labor Day though.

I'm down to only three viable embryos left. The one that I left in the display must have been eaten.

3 more months

Another month down, 3 still viable. It is interesting. Movement of the egg causes the embryo's to stop all movement. They even stop their respirations. I guess it was not a new observation with some species, I was told that there is a paper out there on this behavior. Anyway, not worth taking a pic. The cases have become porous and easily take in air if exposed. The yolks are about 1/2 the original size ~1/2 inch and the heads of the sharks are nearly equal. 2 months to go.

Yeah, there were a couple of studies done about them stopping all movement when they picked up on a predator near by.

Here's the paper:

Kempster RM, Hart NS, Collin SP
Survival of the Stillest: Predator Avoidance in Shark Embryos 2013

http://www.plosone.org/article/info%...l.pone.0052551

An article about it:

Pretty sure this is a first for the US. She is very thin but did try to take some brine. The other two eggs floated about 5 weeks ago

Thanks,

Another video of her attempting to eat. She is so very thin and I wish I hatched her sooner. Not sure how she will do. Pretty excited to be able to capture this from insemination to birth. BTW - the fish in this video are Atlantic Silversides if anyone was wondering.
