Bubble King Double Cone 150 /w Mini-Red-Dragon 600

My BK Double Cone 150 Red Dragon pump is having issues. I did a thorough cleaning of the pump but when I plug it back in it spins for a few second then it dies. If pull the power and plug it back in it starts back up but then dies.

Do I need to order a new impellar or pump block?

Thanks,
Eugene

First thing I would do is take the pump completely apart including the bearing inside the block in the magnet cavity. Set all o-rings aside and do the 10 minute vinegar soak followed by a good scrub inside and out. This post here discusses cleaning the pumps but post 2 in particular covers the bearing. It's the most often overlooked point of maintenance and if there is building in the orifice of the bearing that the end of the shaft sits into, that will create friction on the impeller that can result in the symptoms you are describing or worse, lead to premature failure of the block. It's very important that the bearing be installed properly when you put it back together. It must be fully seated prior to installing the impeller. See post 2 of this thread for info on that.

If that doesn't solve it, make sure the magnet isn't spinning on the impeller shaft. If it's firmly affixed tot he shaft as it should be, them you will need a new motor block.
