Smart UV lamp, shortening cable?

Just setting up an emperor aquatics smart UV 40W unit. The power cable is like 15’ long, and I only need it to be a couple of feet.

I decided to chop the wire down to the desired length, I’ve stripped the wires and tinned them.

The question I have now is, will the 4-pin connector that I took off be re-usable? (Not sure if they only clamp once, and once pulled out they won’t work again?) Or will I need to buy a new 4-pin connector?

Here’s a picture so you can see what part I’m talking about.

Wasn’t an option, the 15’ of cable would not have been easy to deal with

Looks like I will need to buy a new 4 pin connector for it. They won’t stay in the one I pulled off.

Would've been easier to leave the plug end alone and cut out the middle of the cord itself and reconnect.

Yeah, I really thought about that (after the fact) but in the end, this is better way long term (as long as the pin connector goes on okay. I’ll update once I fix it.

You can get the connector from AquaUV but I think your connector is fine and you just need the female pins. That connector is common between the AquaUV and EA units/ You will need to contact them because the connector doesn't normally include the pins but I am pretty sure they have them. Just tell them that you have an AquaUV Classic and need the 4 in ceramic connector as well as the pins. The pins require a special crimper but you might be able to use a needle nose pliers or some other crimping tool.
