Foxface Venom?

I wanted to get a Foxface but I heard that their dorsal spines were venomous. I was wondering how bad is the venom to humans and is it something to worry about like the spines on a lionfish.

people can have vastly different reactions to these kinds of exposures. for some it just be like a bee sting, nothing to really fret over. however if you have a sensitivity or an allergy it can be very serious. same as envenomation by anything else, really.

since the sting would also involve a puncture of skin, there is a risk of secondary infection as well. this is true of any cut or scrape from your tank. things like M. marinum and Vibrio thrive in saltwater (this is true in the ocean as well).

best advice with a marine stinger is to be careful and avoid contact.

I got stung by a other type of rabbitfish before. It hurts but, for me its was less than a scorpion and little more than a bee. Yes... I got stung by a lot of animals.

I'm allergic to bee stings so I have never taken a chance with any stinging fish....

I had a 15-inch gold spot rabbit in a customer's tank. I always worried about those 3-inch spines jabbing me.

The account was across from a hospital, but I doubt they would know what to do about it.

I cleaned the tank on weekends. I told my wife if they find me dead on Monday, kill that stupid rabbit.
