But with that said, my ozone doesn't run very much. My tanks stays between 450-480 mV due to running a UV. When it does kick in, which is right after I add Fuel (twice weekly) I don't see much of a decline.

I have few quick questions about new to me SVS2-24 skimmer. It looks like mine is older version of this skimmer, as it has cup drain at the bottom of the cup, and doesnt have V.A.M.P.
Questions: Where can I find replacement cup drain valve? For whatever reason I just have a fitting with hose attached to it that is open. All the skimate would automaticaly drain out due to this Should I look into replacing venturi with Mazzei, or should I just stick with this one? Thanks for the help |

The valve, you could simply get a hose barb to pipe thread adapter and a threaded ball valve. Or check home depot or Lowes for a valve with hose barbs on the ends. Sent from my VS988 using Tapatalk

This question may have been asked-and-answered, but I'm not sure I'd be able to find it in 151 pages of this forum:
On the 24" Lifereef skimmer model, I'm currently running Neptune's COR-15, which they rate at 1500 GPH. Would I get any better results with a higher GPH pump? Is there a point of diminishing returns? Is there such a thing as a pump that's TOO powerful? Oh, and... For those who have tried the skimmer with and without the Mazzei venturi, what has your comparative experience been? |

I've run the Cor 15 at 65%, 80%, and 100% currently and see now difference in output. Personally speaking I will take the savings in a plug and power utilization.

I heard back from Jeff (quickly as always) on an email I posted. He says that the max you could put on the 24" is about 2400 gph, and with that you might have to throttle back. The issue is whether you get so much flow coming in that you can't regulate the internal water level anymore. So long as you can still regulate that internal water level, the more the merrier in terms of gph (my words, not his). I went ahead and ordered a Fluval SP6.
The typical pump that Lifereef matches with the 24" skimmer is the Mag 9.5 I believe. Right now, I've been running the COR-15 at 100% (knocking down to 1% if I'm on feed cycle or if my level sensor shows the sump level is too high). |

Anyone ever had a neck cleaner installed on their Lifereef. Not a motorized one but one attached to the lid to where you can just manually turn it?

Anyone using a Fluval SP2 pump on the 24" model? I ended up buying this pump for a different project I had but it was too strong. I currently have a jebao pump on the skimmer now but I think it is losing efficiency because I have the pump at 100% and the gate valve is almost closed and still produce a pretty dry skim. Since I have this new pump laying around I was going to see if it did any better, what do you think?

Is anyone running the VS3-72? Are you running the pump that was sold with it or another pump? Anyone running one internally?

The Life Reef Skimmer Club
So I just hooked up my svs-24. A moment I have been excited about for a long time...
Have mag 9.5 on it and it’s noisy as hell. I have a rubber mat under the pump but sounds like a sonic earthquake under there right now. I bought the pump used. I assume the pump is creating the noise. Thoughts? Will “break in” help this? For reference I went from an all but silent Varios 8 return with very little sound to adding this mag 9.5 with skimmer that comparativly sounds like a hammer drill... Thanks, C Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Though quite reliable, Mag Drives are noisey and energy hungry pumps unfortunately. For the 24” Lifereef, if you want a nice and quiet AC pump, take a look at the Fluval SP4. The new AC Sicce ADV 7.0 looks intriguing as well at only 55 watts.

Currently, I have a SVS3-24 Lifereef Skimmer using a MagDrive 9.5. Great pump, truly a low maintenance workhorse, but like others have said, it is loud. Eheim makes a new pump; EHIEM
COMPACTON 5000 (1320 GPH). It's quiet, runs a 70W and a small footprint. This is similar to SICCE 5.0, but runs at a lower wattage. The MagDrive 950GPH works efficiently with the Lifereef skimmer. Should I be concerned the EHEIM 1320 GPH will create more bubble noise? Any other thoughts? Thanks— |

What is the head height of the Eheim CompactOnat 1320? The Mag 9.5 is 15 ft.

I figure it’s be similar to the performance of the Mag 9.5 with some savings on the electrical bill...
Mag 9.5 - 950 gph at 15’ and 93 watts vs. Eheim CompactOn - 1320 gph at 12’ and 70 watts

What's the difference between the VS3 and the SVS3?
Anyone running one of these on a nano? I have a Red Sea Reefer 170 (34 gal w/ 9 gal sump) How would these work on a tank this size and what pump would you use?
