Question about bk 160

I used bk 160 over 1 years ,
but it doesn't work well .

I have 6 fish and feed corals almost everyday ,
it's a nps tank !!
Even I stop feeding for two weeks , bk160 still can't have solid foam stably.
Sometimes good , sometimes bad .
It's really strange !!

Is my tank too small ?
(100 liter )

I have no idea about the situation !
Can you help me to Find out the possible causes ?
I will really appreciate that !!

You’re load is way too low. 6 fish is nothing and 100 liters is a VERY small system/tank for this skimmer. The minimum size display this skimmer is recommended for is 200 liters. It’s not about tank size as much as it’s about the fish/waste load. At the minimum size rating of this skimmer (200 Ll), it’s expected that you would have a heavy load. In your case, there isn’t anywhere near enough dissolved organics in the system to maintain a consistent foam head. Without sufficient dissolved organics, the skimmer won’t make foam. It will just make bubbles. The larger the skimmer, the larger the neck volume and the larger the neck volume, the more foam you need to fill the neck to keep it consistent. In the absence of enough dissolved organics, the skimmer will generate foam for a day or two until it reduces the dissolved organics. Then it will idle along and not produce anything until there are enough dissolved organics to create enough foam to fill the neck and generate some skimmate. Then the cycle repeats. Our skimmers are very conservatively rated and this is why it’s important to properly size the skimmer for your display volume and load.

You’re only option would be to add a bunch more fish or run the skimmer more wet by closing the wedge pipe some more in order to raise the level higher inside the skimmer. This reduces the volume needed to fill the neck with foam and will improve the consistency some.

Thanks a lot !
In my country , people used to handle the tank by putting a big skimmer in the sump .
Follow that experience , I really made a mistake !
I wouldn't add more fish , the tank is already too small for them .
So I think I will look for the next skimmer which is more fitting the tank .

The one in the first tank is running WAY to wet. You either need to open up the wedge pipe more and lower the sump level or raise the skimmer up on a platform. The line where bubbles turn to foam (break line) should be about 1" below the white part that the cup sits on. Also keep in mind that it can take up to a week for the skimmer to break in so things will change during that time and the skimmer may settle down some but in the mean time, lower the water level inside the skimmer by opening the wedge or raising the skimmer or lowering the sump level. 1/2" at a time.

The one in your tank looks OK though you could probably open the wedge pipe a tiny bit.
