? about AC
I have 135 gallon tank with a 75 gallon sump. I haven't used and AC so far. The majority of my corals are soft corals. My question is how much AC should I start with and does AC have a shelf life. Its been sealed up for a year unopened. Thanks. The brand I am using is Marineland premium activated carbon. (black diamond media)

Reactor or just media bag?
Carbon usage/requirements are basically hard to quantify.. A few cups changed out every few weeks may be a good starting poing.(wild *** guess)

As long as the seal is okay, the carbon likely is okay. It degrades rapidly on exposure to air.
I might try ½ cup and work up to a cup or two, depending on how the corals react. The carbon likely will be okay for about a month, but we don't have anything useful in the way of hard data on the various products for sale.
