Multi-Light RMS Eurobrace Question

Based on a previous thread I found from last fall, I have some questions regarding using the Multi-Light RMS on a Eurobraced tank.

I have a 6' long tank and was about to buy the 70.5" track, one RMS arm kit, and 4 RMS slides. (4 Gen 3 Pros)

My tank is a peninsula build with an end overflow. On the overflow side, the eurobracing extends 2 3/4" from the outside edge of the rim. On the other end, the eurobracing extends 3 1/4".

Will the Multi-Light RMS work for my tank? (I really hope the answer is yes, because I am having fits trying to get the rail and hanging kits to work with the ceiling in this office.)

Also, my Radions have 10' cords. Are they any extensions for that? I am worried that the farthest radion would not have enough cord.

Thanks!

Deleau,

The multi-light RMS is designed to work euro braced aquariums and you will not have any issues. Additionally, we do sell XR30w extension cables that can be purchased here: http://store.ecotechmarine.com/store...on-accessories

Perfect. That's exciting.

I feel like a heel for not seeing those extension cables on the site. Thanks for the link.

Did I read your answer right Alex? The RMS does work on euro braced tanks?

Martin,

The Multi-Light RMS does work on euro braced aquariums. The single arm kit will not in most cases.

On a 72" tank using the 70" arm, I'm wondering if there is any sag?

How many units are you mounting on it?

For my application it would be 3 gen1's.

So free shipping was awesome, and I got it on Friday. I set it up (I will post some photos in a couple days on my build thread) and I do not notice any sag with all 4 radions evenly spaced. The cross beam is made of sturdy steel; I'm not surprised that it is not sagging.

Again, I will post photos, but I was not able to use the clamp part of the kit, so that it is just sitting on the rim of the tank. I have it tightened to the cross beam, and it feels sturdy, but I can just lift it right off if I wanted.

I definitely want to see how it's sitting on your tank.

Sorry, it's taken a bit. I've been lazy on tank photos...

Can you post a close up picture of how one of the legs rests on the tank?

So after a few months how are you liking the mount system?

I'm really thinking about making some changes with the way my 4 gen 3's are mounted over my tank.

So do the legs just sit on top of the rim? They don't clamp on? If not, im afraid I'd accidentally bump it and knock the whole thing into the tank :S

GM,

For Eurobraced aquariums the arms will rest on your aquarium's rim and be held tight by tightening the screws into the rail.

You would have to hit it deliberately with the intention of knocking it into the water.
My tank is euro braced and I don't use the inside part and it would still be difficult to knock it over.

What's the max eurobrace width the arm clamps can accommodate?

If I get your question correctly, you are asking specifically about the width of a euro brace and the RMS arm.

They can be used on pretty much any width.
On euro braced tanks you don't use the inside clamp part.

Can someone tell me how thick the part that rests on the outside of the tank is? I'm hoping to use this on my 6ft tank but within my tank hood and I only have 1/2 inch clearance.

Thanks.

From the edge of my tank, it sticks out a shade over 3/4".

Is there a way to use my two RMS brackets on the rear tank wall to attach a rail, and then move the two XR15s further to each side on the rail, and put an XR30 in between. Don't want to install the RMS brackets on the side walls.

Do you have any close up pictures of how the mount sat on the edge of the Eurobrace???

How did this mount hold up over time??
