Firstly thanks all for the PM's on my tank, here are some pics of how its going...not so good just yet. Seven months in, started with Real Reef Rock and a bottle of Aquaforest bacteria and wow what a struggle to get this thing to settle down. Tested some small frags and RIP. Params are on point, going to try fluconazole to rid this carpet of slime muck.

Yes there are fish in there...they hid when the LED were put in yellow mode for the photo.

Interesting to hear Rod. I’m currently going through a similar problem. Started an inert frag tank to avoid pest introduction (matrix, ARM media for filtration) and a year in still getting these mini cycles with similar algae problems. I’ve noticed that my tester frags shoe tissue recession when ever the algae starts to die off, then there will be a period where the coralline starts to come back but soon enough the algae dominates then the cycle starts again. Suspect that bacteria hasn’t fully established and may take longer in inert setups. Large water changes along with GAC helps to some degree.

Am I the only one that see's a tank crash as an opportunity for a re-scape....

Here is my new acroscape, tank is 210G 7' long. I used STAX this time because I wanted to make something a bit unique, it allowed for making roller coaster type shapes and give space for water to flow throughout the scape.

This took lots and I mean lots of Aquaknead and superglue, I mix the glue into the aquaknead. This stuff is strong, I had to get an electric grinder to cut apart my old scape to remove it from the tank...and each of these new islands where lifted into the tank in one piece!

So had a massive green algae bloom within the first week of the cycle and after two weeks decided to add UV...was hesitant because I have tried cheap units in the past with no effect. This time went with a 57w Aqua Ultraviolet unit plumbed inline with the return and check the results in less than a week (it will be a week this Sunday)

This is day 4 (96 hours) after install of the UV
