Lighting / Viparspectra mount in tank canopy
Hello.
I just set up a new 75gl tank and purchased (2) 165W Viparspectra LED light fixtures. I started with the wall mounts and it doesn't look great in the living room. I was wondering if anyone has attempted to mount this light to a wood tank canopy by either cutting a hole in the top of the wood canopy and recessed it, or cut the hole and mounted the light on top of the canopy..whereas it shines through the opening that you cut out. Trying to come up with a workable idea that is more easy on the eyes...especially to the boss of the living room...thanks! |

Yes.
I don't have any pictures anymore but I have always used those fixtures recessed/mounted into canopies through by simply supporting them on aluminum angle secured with pop rivets,etc...

As mcgyvr said, you can build an aluminum frame inside the canopy and mount lights that way. Probably fastest and easiest way to do it. For ideas on what frame can look like, take a look at this thread. You wouldnt need legs, but it gives you an idea how to build it.
