MP40wQD Wet Side with Old MP40 Dry Side?

So all that is available now on the parts page is the quiet drive wet side. I have a rather old dry side from when before eco-smart was out. I did upgrade the driver to eco-smart several years ago. My wet side decided to bind up last night and I think it's toast. Threaded rod and magnet fused to the back cover. Rod snapped, it's just old.

Question is will the quiet drive wet side work fine with my old wet side?

Thanks
Drew

Justdrew,

The new MP40 QuietDrive wetside is compatible with all generations of the MP40 and MP20 drysides.

I know this is an old thread, but I have one more question...

Does the QD wet side provide any increase in flow or is the increased flow that the QD pump generates because of the QD dry side? Specifically, if I run a QD driver with ES dry side and QD wet side will I get any performance increase (other than noise reduction)?

You cannot run a QD dryside with a WES wet side per the upgrade chart that ETM published.

In order to achieve the flow increase, one must have the full QD setup.

Ok. I'll look into the upgrade. I notice 2 options on the web sight, how do I know which one I need?

Here's the compatibility chart I mentioned.

I assume you mean the WWD to QD upgrade and the WES to QD upgrade. Back when the MP's were first introduced, their drivers were shaped like a brick and are referred to as the WWD. WES drivers are shaped like the QD driver, but are white.

I have two WES with upgraded drivers and wet sides. The drivers make almost all of the sound difference, but the QD wet sides seem more forgiving when aligning them. I can’t tell the difference between them and full QD pumps as far as sound goes.

I sent mine in for service about 6-10 months ago I think and got both wet sides replaced. So I just need the dry side and controller I think.

So would I want the updated dry side and controller? What is the cost on that?

FWIW, I just replaced a very old MP40 wetside with the new QD version on my WES dryside. Hard to measure flow directly, but it sure looked to me like an increase.

So with WES version which upgrade do I want? Does it require a new dryside too?

You would want the WES to QD kit.

Correct?

That would give you the quieter operation, but flow would remain the same.

Ok. That makes sense, I need the dryside for increased flow.
