H. magnifica
Hello all, this is my first H. magnifica. I acquired it on 2/22 and immediately placed it in quarantine. The set up is a 10 gallon tank with 4x 18 watt t5s, a 50 watt heater, a whisper power filter, 350 gph powerhead, a nano chiller to maintain it at 79F, and a surface skimmer for oxygenation since I can’t put a skimmer on it.
The anemone was housed in a modified storage basket from Walmart that was floating at the surface. I started treatment with 250mg cipro after a 100% WC with water from my main display. By 2/26, the anemone was, to me, a 3 on the Amoo scoring system. I wasn’t sure if this was due to poor water circulation or internal infection so I increased the dose to 500mg, modified the cage to more open on both sides, and added a second powerhead in parallel to create a more laminar water flow. In the morning of 2/27 the anemone looked like a 4 but became more of a 3 by that night. On 2/28 I did a 100% WC but forgot to add the cipro. This morning is looked like a 5 so I lowered the basket to have water flow over it and added the cipro. This afternoon it looks like a 3 and I am just very anxious. I really don’t want to add TMS but I can get it if I absolutely need to. I was thinking of adding amoxicillin Bc I have that on hand. Any thoughts, suggestions, or tips would be greatly appreciated. I pull the water from my display and the parameters are: NO3: 2ppm PO4: 0.03 pH: 8.3 Alk: 8.5 Ca: 420 |
