I do run carbon. The flared gills started the same time I lost my paucifasciatus. But he lasted a long time after that.

No... nothing on my wish list currently. I do miss having a semilarvatus. .. but I'm not sure I want to deal with all that again....

OK it must HAVE been fun to stock :P

I'm like a kid in a candy store every time we go out to LA. Now personally since getting more into coral, it's getting dangerous...

I know SD has a bunch of nice selection as well

I read somewhere it can affect isolated fish in a system, not all fish...will try and dig that up..

Interesting and concerning. I need to know more about that.

WOW, just read trough the thread. So much information and great pictures and videos. Love your selection of fishes. I have Chaetodon declivis myself (2 in DT and 1 in fuge). Had a burgessi too, but removed due to heavy aggression towards declivis. When you had declivis an mitratus together, did you notice any aggression between them? Have been thinking to add new fishes and now am going through different options on what to get.

Thanks very much!! My burgessi HATES my mitratus... but the mitratus seems to shake it off without issue. Neither bother the tinkeri. I don't think I'll dare try to add another roaops to the system though.

It seems burgessi is the most aggressive of all the roaps butterfly's. Mine was really territorial, but sometimes getting really cosy with one of the declivis. Was thinking adding mitratus, but not sure, if I will make the gamble. Actually at first I was set to get 3 mitratus, but they sold them right under my nose and then I was suggested getting declivis. And Iäm actually glad it turned that way, as I looooove these little fellows

Maybe will add smaller angels and prognathores... Do you have any experience with prognathores butterfly's?

Funny you should mention the chaetodon burgessi being aggressive; mine has suddenly decided to no longer tolerate being in the same tank with my chaetodon quadrimaculatus. I noticed this past weekend it was going after it nonstop, not just being aggressive towards it, but actively trying it’s best to eliminate the quadrimaculatus… Strange considering how long they’ve been tank mates and neither has ever shown any aggression towards anyone.

Needless to say, the fish trap came out, and the burgessi is currently spending time in the sump with my not so friendly yellow stripe maroon clownfish. I will probably try a reset; I hate the thought of having to choose between the two, so we’ll see what happens.

I do not... a friend had one of the Atlantic common ones, and it was a terribly finicky eater.

I may bust out the trap myself this weekend....

Probably the nicest collection of fish I've ever seen, with the possible exception of the New England Aquarium's medium size fish tank.

Great video! Funny, I never realized you were keeping so many Chaetodontoplus species together.

Looking good Peter, did you turn off your power heads during feeding?

Thanks. Tes, so far I've found them pretty easy to mix.

Yup, just the feed mode on the tunze controller.

More video... get to see more of the inhabitants, including the navarchus grunting like a little machine gun at 0:45 and the saddleback getting "cleaned" by the wrasse near the end of the video

Hey sdguy posted this in humaguy thread too but thought you can weigh in.

I've just lost a semilarvatus to flukes in QT I ran one dose of prazipro in the first week, and in the second week, and the tank was at a full dose of cupramine. Fish died of flukes at end of week four.

Did I make a mistake in my procedure, and what do you recommend (have you ever run into this?) I feel like a giant idiot, what's worse is semilarvatus is super rare in Australia.

I stupidly though water quality might be an issue as I'm using a 20 gallon tank, but they all tested fine. I fell asleep at the wheel as I thought two doses of prazipro would be sufficient...

Have you ever experienced diseases in your DT?

Are you saying that you ran both Prazi Pro and Copper at the same time? Those fish are pretty sensitive to most treatments, copper is especially hard on most fish. What was the reason behind the treatments other than flukes?

Did you do anything to increase oxygen in the tank while you were treating either of them?

Yep had a spray bar, copper was ramped up slowly and even at full dose fish was eating very well till the twitching began.

I try not to use both prazi and cupramine at the same time... I've had some fish not deal with it well. I also never use full dose (as recommended on the bottle) cupramine with butterflies. All they said, your fish just may have had some other issue? It's tough to say... though they are a hardier species, and by 4 weeks things should have been looking either good, or not. Sorry for your loss... IS this your first time QT'ing a butterfly?
