Control Tunze 1073.05 with Apex

I have an apex classic and a 1073.05 set up as my return pump (its the one with the red potentiometer knob inline)

I'd like to be able to have it ramp up and down throughout the day. Increasing and decreasing with the "tides".

At the very least I'd like to be able to control the % output via Apex Fusion. I can't seem to find any answers on the Apex forms.

TIA!

It looks like it has the 0-10v din connector so it should be but I would double check with Roger at Tunze USA. Not sure if you knew it or not, but Tunze has a forum here at Reef Central so you can post there and ask if it’s 0-10v controllable or PM Roger from Tunze USA but as I said above, I am pretty sure it it.

If it is, you just need one of the cables in the link below. It has two Din connectors to control two Tunze pumps from the single Apex RJ45 Variable Speed connection. Not sure why you would want to do that with a return pump though. Returns should be set it and forget it and if anything compromises the 0-10v chain or if the Apex has an issue, your pump will shut off. Also, having the pump ramp up and down will cause the sump level (assuming you have a sump) to rise and fall. This will cause your skimmer (assuming you have one in your sump) to overflow when it rises and it will never perform properly.

Anyhow, this is the cable you will need if you decide to push forward.

Ah, got ya. Point of clarification. I do have the cable and the cable appears to in fact be able to "dim" the pump but im specifically wondering if i can write any code into apex allowing the pump to be set to surge/change gph. Based on the 0-10v

Sure. Just create some profiles for your surges and add some lines to the variable speed outlet to call those profiles up at various times.

That or make it easy on yourself and use Fusion. Select the variable speed port, then select the wizard and use graph points to create the flow ranges.
