Observation just before RTN
I have been stressing my acros due to a move to my QT trying to get rid of AEFW.
Two days after the move and a dip in coral Rx, I notice several corrals had "strings" coming out of them. I don't know the name of it, but I thought they were possibly feeding. It was during the light period. Some of the strings were as long as 1 inch. About an hour later one of the corals with the most "strings" started RTN. It was gone within 4 hours. It was a small colony about 2 inches in diameter. I did a 50% water change, using my DT water, and the remaining corals calmed down. Last edited by jjencek; 12/18/2018 at 08:09 AM. Really not sure what the strings were.. could have been slime, or mesenterial filaments, both would be caused by stress I suppose.
What about melafix? Is that available? Also way less stressful on the corals.

Yes, filaments. That's the word I was looking for. Thank you.
I don't know about melafix. I will look around. |
